Eldon hasn't had much luck against Mexico recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Mustangs will head out to take on the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Eldon will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
Eldon will bounce into Friday's contest after beating Southern Boone, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Mustangs came out on top against the Eagles by a score of 9-6 on Tuesday.
Drew Hinds was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Owen Asbury also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mexico, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Fort Zumwalt East 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since May 8, 2025.
Drew DeMint made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. DeMint was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zach Jahn, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Chance McCarty was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Eldon's record is now 5-0. As for Mexico, their record now sits at 2-3.
Mexico's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Eldon has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10 hits per game. It's a different story for Mexico, though, as they've been averaging 8.8 hits. Given Eldon's sizable advantage in that area, the Bulldogs will need to find a way to close that gap.
Eldon skirted past Mexico 4-3 when the teams last played back in March of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
