Leesville Road's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damacio Cueto, who threw for 179 yards and three TDs while completing 71.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 42 yards and one score. Cueto's passing game has become a key predictor of the Pride's success: the team is 7-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Akshar Barnes was in the mix as well, providing Leesville Road with two touchdowns.
Leesville Road's run defense was locked in: Broughton could only muster 1.9 yards per carry. While 12 picked up at least one total tackle, Barnes stood above the rest. He rushed for 91 yards and a pair of scores on only eight carries. Leesville Road didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 9.1.
Leesville Road didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Adam Sonye and Jacob Edwards. Edwards has been hot, having also posted seven or more total tackles the last five times he's played.
Meanwhile, Jordan put another one in the bag two weeks ago to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Willow Spring 43-3. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Falcons' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 15th, while the Storm are ranked 108th).
Jordan's win came from a few key players Leesville Road will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Landon Melton, who threw for 196 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 80 yards on only 11 carries. Damien Hayes was another key player, rushing for 85 yards and two touchdowns.
Leesville Road's record is now 8-3. As for Jordan, their record now sits at 10-0.
Leesville Road couldn't quite finish off Jordan when the teams last played back in August and fell 22-20. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Hayes, who rushed for 165 yards and one score. Now that the Pride know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
