The Pennridge Rams will face off against the Plymouth Whitemarsh Colonials at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, Pennridge got the win against Central Bucks South by a conclusive 28-7. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Rams' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Titans are ranked 90th).
William Dougherty went supernova, rushing for 80 yards and one score, while also catching one touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Pennridge was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 279 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in August.
Meanwhile, Plymouth Whitemarsh waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They breezed past the Panthers to the tune of 42-15. With the Colonials ahead 28-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Plymouth Whitemarsh's win came from a few key players Pennridge will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Michael Giangiulio, who rushed for 108 yards and one TD on only ten carries, and also picked up 77 receiving yards. Plymouth Whitemarsh is 6-1 when Giangiulio posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. Michael Bongard was another key back, rushing for 59 yards and a pair of touchdowns.
Plymouth Whitemarsh didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Devin Spruill.
Pennridge's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Plymouth Whitemarsh, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Pennridge has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 189.5 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Plymouth Whitemarsh struggles in that department as they've been averaging 290.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
