Eaglecrest always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .552. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Grandview faced Castle View in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Wolves fell just short of the Sabercats by a score of 9-7. The Wolves' defeat signaled the end of their eight-game winning streak.
Chase Chapman made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayden Bohmeyer, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Eaglecrest's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Grandview, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Eaglecrest has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.8 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Grandview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Eaglecrest came up short against Grandview in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 6-2. Will the Raptors have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more baseball content.
