Basketball Recap: Cosumnes Oaks Takes a Loss

Cosumnes Oaks suffered their closest defeat since January 31st on Friday. They fell just short of the Tracy Bulldogs by a score of 68-65. While losing is never fun, the Wolfpack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 801st, while the Bulldogs are ranked 205th).

Despite the loss, Cosumnes Oaks still got an impressive performance from Devin Jones, who went 9 of 14 en route to 21 points along with seven boards and six assists. The dominant performance gave Jones a new career-high in assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremiah Boatwright, who went 5 of 11 on his way to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Cosumnes Oaks smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Cosumnes Oaks has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season. As for Tracy, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.

Cosumnes Oaks wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 74-54 loss against Freedom on the 14th. As for Tracy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 76-38 victory against Orestimba on the 16th.
