On Saturday, Holy Cross suffered a tough 75-50 defeat at the hands of the Royals. Holy Cross was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-17.
Mona Okorie and Kyara Champagne certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Okorie scored six points along with 16 rebounds and three blocks, while Champagne scored 21 points along with two steals. Okorie is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least 12 every time she's taken the court this season. Nafi Balde was another key contributor, scoring four points along with six rebounds.
Holy Cross' loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-10. That rough patch can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Christ the King, their win bumped their record up to 8-2.
Holy Cross will be playing at home against the Hilltoppers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mary Louis Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight matchups -- so hopefully the Knights like a good challenge. As for Christ the King, they will head out on the road to face off against the Kingsmen at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
