Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Trinity Academy walked away with it. They came out on top against the Humboldt Cubs by a score of 5-2 on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Knights sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Josiah Sems was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Braden Roberts, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Bolt, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Trinity Academy's record is now 24-4. As for Humboldt, with the defeat, they broke their 12-game winning streak and moved their record to 23-5.
