3A South Central recap November 19, 2013
Coronado was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Roosevelt. The Cougars came in at 19 in the state poll after placing at number 29 last week.
Coronado and the Roughriders played the most contested game in 3A South Central this week, with Coronado eventually emerging with a 29-27 victory. Austin Micci ran for 159 yards and caught 2 passes for 17 yards in the win.
Coronado's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Cougars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Joah Smith has thrown for 1,161 yards and 8 touchdowns this season, while Sam Smith has 27 catches for 419 yards.
Isaah Duvall of the Bobby Lizarraga's team is only 4 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 125 carries Duvall has put up 996 yards this year.
The Cougars made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,646 from 2,235. The advance stemmed from a 29-27 victory over Roosevelt last week.
