Basketball Recap: South Mecklenburg Piles Up the Points Against Reagan

With a playoff win on the line, South Mecklenburg rose to the challenge on Tuesday. They really took it to the Reagan Raiders for the full four quarters, racking up a 78-50 win. The Sabres have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 14 contests by 20 points or more this season.

Leading South Mecklenburg to victory were Nykira Arrington and Kaitlyn Hensley. Arrington dropped a double-double with 19 points and ten rebounds, while Hensley posted 15 points and six steals. That's the most points Arrington has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was KB Brown, who had six points in addition to eight assists and five steals.

South Mecklenburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 33 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 20 consecutive matchups.

South Mecklenburg has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points over those games. Reagan dropped their record down to 16-11 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, South Mecklenburg will take on Davie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. South Mecklenburg is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.1 points per game this season. Reagan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
