Shelby is 3-0 against Pleasant since September of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Shelby Whippets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Pleasant Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Two weeks ago, Shelby's game was all tied up 14-14 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They enjoyed a cozy 36-21 win over Clear Fork. Given Shelby's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 126th, while Clear Fork is ranked 433rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Pleasant got themselves on the board against Marion Harding on Friday, but Marion Harding never followed suit. They blew past the Presidents 36-0 at home. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Pleasant had established a 23 point advantage.
Shelby's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 6-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 49.0 points per game. Pleasant has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Shelby against Pleasant when the teams last played back in September of 2022 as the squad secured a 34-6 win. Will Shelby repeat their success, or does Pleasant have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
