Sumner had a rough outing against Kentwood last week, but a little bit of home cooking seems to have fixed things right up. Sumner put the hurt on Independence with a sharp 34-6 win. Independence can consider this payback for the 7-12 defeat they dealt Sumner the last time the teams encountered one another.
The victory bumped Sumner's record up to 2-1. Independence are still searching for that first win as they fell to 0-3.
Next week Sumner take on South Pike at 7:00 PM. Independence will be staying on the road, facing off against Amite.
