Malad has gone a perfect 10-0 against Soda Springs recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Dragons will square off against the Cardinals at 4:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Malad sitting on six straight wins and Soda Springs on three.
Malad can't be too worried about heading out to take on Soda Springs: they just beat Firth at home, who had been dominant on their own field up to that point. The Dragons never let the Cougars get on the board and left with a 7-0 victory on Monday. The Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Brady Showell made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out seven over seven innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Malad got a big performance out of Kyson Willie, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Willie has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cale Briggs, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his five plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Soda Springs hadn't done well against Glenns Ferry recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Cardinals put the hurt on the Pilots with a sharp 14-4 win. Considering the Cardinals have won five games by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Malad, Soda Springs also got a great game from a two-way player: Stoney Irick. He pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Irick was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Will McCullough and Trey Dunford did most of the damage at the plate: McCullough scored three runs while going 2-for-2, while Dunford scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. McCullough is becoming a predictor of Soda Springs' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-5-1 when he doesn't). JT Cutler was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances.
Soda Springs was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Glenns Ferry only posted a batting average of .273.
Malad's record now sits at 10-4. As for Soda Springs, the victory got them back to even at 6-6-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Malad has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Soda Springs struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Malad's way against Soda Springs when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Malad made off with a 27-2 win. Do the Dragons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cardinals turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
