The biggest upset of the week belonged to Taft, who defeated 510th ranked Arvin, 14-7. Joseph Sanchez ran for 136 yards during the win.
Fans got a thrill when Brandon Jones and Josh Jackson connected against Chavez. The connection went for 63 yards, the longest such play in South Sequoia this season.
Jones was a passing and rushing force as Bakersfield Christian beat the Titans. He completed 18 passes for 330 yards and 3 touchdowns and also ran for 50 yards. Jones' key target this week was Jackson, who caught 6 passes for 158 yards.
Kyle Millwee threw for 190 yards and 84 touchdowns. He went 6-12 with 0 interception.
Matt Smith was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 144 yards on 9 carries as the Eagles bested Chavez. Jones also contributed to the rushing game with 50 yards on the ground.
Bakersfield Christian's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jones has thrown for 834 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, while Jackson has 15 catches for 302 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Sergio Barajas' team takes on Wasco. At the moment, the Titans are in fourth, while the Tigers are in first.
The Wildcats moved up to 554 from 641 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in South Sequoia. Taft was able to move up by beating the Bears 14-7.
