5A Region II District 14 recap September 24, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 5A Region II District 14 this week, Oak Ridge beat Nimitz 59-21,. The victory was the fourth in a row for the team.
Oak Ridge took down the Cougars 59-21 last week, the largest margin of any game. Braden Letney threw for 24 yards and ran for 97 yards in the win.
Letney put up the best numbers through the air as Head Coach Dereck Rush's team topped Nimitz. Letney's favorite target this week was Demarcus Durst, who caught 3 passes for 21 yards.
Letney was the best running back in the league this week. Lamar Handy also contributed to the rushing game with 78 yards on the ground.
Chance Givens was the best wideout in the league this week as College Park lost to Clear Brook.
A big matchup in 5A Region II District 14 this week will be when Bryan takes on the War Eagles. The Vikings are in sixth place, while Oak Ridge is in first place.
The War Eagles made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 1,827 from 2,020. The improvement was the result of 59-21 victory over the Cougars last week.
