The Cary Academy Chargers will venture away from home to challenge the Durham Academy Cavaliers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Cary Academy's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Aidan Rousseau, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 boards, and Julian Tweedy, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. The game was Tweedy's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Champ Lando, who posted ten points and five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Durham Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 73-72 heartbreaker at the hands of Ravenscroft. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (70), the Cavaliers still had to take the loss.
Cary Academy will have to contain Joshua Dorsette II as he made an impact in Durham Academy's last game. He went 5 for 9 on his way to 18 points and three steals. That's the most points Dorsette II has posted since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was JJ Wilcox, who went 5 of 8 en route to 12 points and seven boards.
Cary Academy has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 10-9 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.7 points per game. As for Durham Academy, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 13-8.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Cary Academy and Durham Academy are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Cary Academy hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 61.6 points per game. However, it's not like Durham Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 70.9 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Cary Academy came up short against Durham Academy in their previous meeting on January 14th, falling 66-54. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Wilcox, who went 12 for 16 on his way to 26 points in addition to five rebounds and three steals. Now that Cary Academy knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
