Loss or not, Riverdale Ridge got some senior leadership from Dylan Nieto and Logan Mestas. Nieto went 9 for 18 on his way to 24 points and seven rebounds, while Mestas went 8 of 16 on his way to 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Nieto has scored all season. Luke Wildhagen was another key player, putting up eight points.
Even though they lost, Riverdale Ridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thomas Jefferson only pulled down four offensive boards.
Riverdale Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Mead, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.
Mead beat Riverdale Ridge 61-50 in their previous meeting back in March of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mead since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
