Jefferson extended their losing streak to five on Tuesday, dropping them down to 6-12. They came up short against the Canutillo Eagles, falling 18-4. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Silver Foxes of the 8-3 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

Joseph Quintanar made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. He has become a key player for Jefferson: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least three RBI, but 2-11 otherwise.
As for Canutillo, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 13-8-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.
On Canutillo's side, Paul Zuniga made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, Zuniga posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Nicholas Alvarez looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in February.
Back at the plate, Emilio Melendez was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ernesto Ramirez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Coming up, Jefferson will square off against Andress at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.7 runs per game on average), something the Silver Foxes will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Canutillo, they will challenge El Paso at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 9 runs per game this season.
