Dove Creek and the Bobcats are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Dove Creek Bulldogs will head out on the road to face off against the Ignacio Bobcats at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Dove Creek will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
Last Tuesday, Dove Creek didn't have too much trouble with the Bluejays at home as they won 50-36.
Dove Creek got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kylie Gatlin out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Gatlin has scored at least a third of Dove Creek's points. Ralynn Hickman was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Ignacio's strategy against the Wolverines on Saturday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Ignacio blew the Wolverines out of the water with a 52-13 final score. Ignacio pushed the score to 42-9 by the end of the third, a deficit the Wolverines had no chance of recovering from.
Dove Creek pushed their record up to 11-2 with that win, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.6 points per game. As for Ignacio, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-8.
Dove Creek strolled past the Bobcats when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a score of 41-27. Will Dove Creek repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
