After two games on the road, Wootton is heading back home. They will take on the Walter Johnson Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Walter Johnson took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Wootton, who comes in off a win.
Even though Wootton has not done well against the Bulldogs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Wootton snuck past the Bulldogs with a 40-34 win.
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Walter Johnson's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 57-35 walloping at the hands of Bethesda-Chevy Chase. Walter Johnson found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 16 to 7 on offense.
Walter Johnson's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Norah Youssef, who scored 15 points, and Kendall Alexander who scored eight points along with four steals. Alexander is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played.
Wootton pushed their record up to 8-8 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.3 points per game. As for Walter Johnson, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6.
Wootton and the Wildcats were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, but the Patriots came up empty-handed after a 49-48 loss. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Youssef, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and six steals. Now that Wootton knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
