The Godwin Eagles will challenge the Caroline Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Godwin 3.2, Caroline 3.9) so any runs scored will be well earned.
The home team had won the previous three meetings between Godwin and Matoaca, and Matoaca kept the tradition alive. The Eagles fell just short of the Warriors by a score of 7-6 on Monday.

Coby Southworth was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Southworth was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Baylor Storke, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Alex Thomas, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-5.
Caroline always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .526. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Caroline's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Godwin, their loss dropped their record down to 7-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Godwin has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Caroline struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
