St. Joseph Academy got a big performance out of Connor Lewis, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4. Dayton Taylor was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, St. Johns Country Day won against Eagle's View on Thursday with 12 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Spartans were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Christ's Church Academy. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won eight contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Brayden Harris made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
In other batting news, Nick Bowden was a standout: he went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was TJ Sunderhaus, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4.
St. Johns Country Day always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Christ's Church Academy only posted an OBP of .333.
St. Johns Country Day is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.6 runs over those games. As for St. Joseph Academy, their record is now 19-6-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. St. Joseph Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like St. Johns Country Day struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
