On Monday, Tradition Prep was beaten by Pine 56-28. While losing is never fun, Tradition Prep can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 511th, while Pine is ranked 227th).
Emily Shirk was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 35 points and 15 rebounds for Pine. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Shirk has scored at least a third of Pine's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Anna Birmingham, who scored 13 points along with nine rebounds and six steals.
Tradition Prep has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season. As for Pine, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 16-2.
Tradition Prep on the road again on Friday and play against Somerset College Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Pine, they will be playing in front of their home fans against NSU University at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
