Basketball Recap: Morning Star Academy Snaps Eight-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Morning Star Academy entered their game against Faith Christian on Monday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Morning Star Academy Mustangs came up short against the Faith Christian Falcons, falling 51-28. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Mustangs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 48-14 back in December of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Morning Star Academy lost, don't look at Violet Jewell. Despite the final result, she posted seven points along with 13 boards and five blocks. Jewell is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last five games she's played. Another player making a difference was Annabella VonMuenster, who earned two points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, Morning Star Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in 12 consecutive matches.

Faith Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ziah Schuler led the charge by going 5 of 8 en route to 14 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Mennen, who scored eight points along with eight boards and four steals.

Morning Star Academy's defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 15-6. As for Faith Christian, the win (which was their 22nd in a row) raised their record to 27-2.

Morning Star Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Faith Christian, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Tri-State Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Tri-State Christian: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Faith Christian has snatched up ten consecutive wins on the road.
