Even though the Worcester Wolverines have not done well against the Franklin Central Purple Devils recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Worcester came out on top against Franklin Central by a score of 46-34. That's another feather in the cap for Worcester, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Despite the defeat, Franklin Central saw an underclassman step up: Shannon Kingsbury scored 26 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Kingsbury scored a full 76.5% of Franklin Central's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Worcester's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Franklin Central, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Worcester will be playing in front of their home fans against Roxbury Central at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Franklin Central's road trip will continue as they head out to face Laurens Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 12th. Laurens Central and Franklin Central are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads.
