The Catholic Central Crusaders gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Toronto with a sharp 60-35 victory. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Catholic Central also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Anna Arai was on fire: she dropped a double-double on 25 points and 16 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jackie O'karma, who scored 8 points along with 7 assists and 5 rebounds.
Defeat or not, Toronto got some senior leadership from Ashton Thomas who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds and Michelle Anderson who scored 10 points along with 5 assists.
Even though they lost, Toronto were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Catholic Central only pulled down 26.
Catholic Central's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Toronto, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.
Catholic Central will look to defend their home court on November 30th against Harrison Central at 7:00 p.m. As for Toronto, they will head out on the road to face off against East Liverpool at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
