The Ruidoso Warriors will take on the Raton Tigers in a tournament on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Ruidoso's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Santa Teresa hitters got past them. Ruidoso was the clear victor by a 24-14 margin over Santa Teresa on Tuesday. Considering the Warriors have won seven contests by more than nine runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Mea Trujillo was incredible, going 4-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Dustine Alvarado, who scored four runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
Ruidoso was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .419 or higher in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Raton). They came out on top against Eunice by a score of 13-8 on Saturday.
Elaina Gigante was a standout: she scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Aveah Marquez, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Ruidoso pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.1 runs over those games. As for Raton, their win ended a four-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6.
Raton's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Ruidoso hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .496. It's a different story for Raton, though, as they've only averaged .258. Will they be able to contain Ruidoso's hitters?
Ruidoso might still be hurting after the 9-1 loss they got from Raton in their previous matchup back in March of 2017. Will Ruidoso have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
