Softball Recap: Jasper Has No Trouble Against Castle

After only two runs in their last match, Jasper made sure to put some runs up on the board against Castle on Saturday. The Wildcats blew past the Knights 10-4. Considering the Wildcats have won seven contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Romey Werner looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Olivia Young, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Avery Dedrick also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Jasper kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Jasper's victory bumped their record up to 11-5-1. As for Castle, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-11.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Jasper is set to square off against their familiar foe Evansville Central at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Castle will face off against rival Evansville Memorial at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
