Basketball Recap: Selma Skates Past Jemison with Ease

Selma had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past the Jemison Panthers, posting a 65-31 win. The Saints have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 15 matches by 20 points or more this season.

Jykierra Oliver continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double with 24 points and 17 boards. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Selma's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Safiya White, who almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Jemison lost on Wednesday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Trinity Bean, who posted ten points. She has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Zariyah Johnson was another key player, putting up a point and seven steals.

Selma pushed their record up to 19-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.0 points over those games. As for Jemison, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.

Selma didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-16 win against Holtville on the 7th. As for Jemison, they have also already played their next game, a 67-32 defeat against Marbury on the 7th.
