After flying high against the West End Patriots last Thursday, the Glencoe Yellowjackets came back down to earth. Glencoe received a tough blow on Friday as they fell 56-39 to Sardis. Glencoe has not had much luck with Sardis recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Several Yellowjackets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alli Jo Amos, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Evelyn Nowak, who scored four points along with two steals.
Glencoe's defeat dropped their record down to 13-9. As for Sardis, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 18-7.
Glencoe will be playing in front of their home fans against Gaston at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Gaston is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Sardis won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Southside at 6:00 p.m. on January 20th. Hopefully Southside focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine last Monday.
