The James Island Trojans lost against the Bluffton Bobcats back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. James Island took a 47-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bluffton. James Island has not had much luck with Bluffton recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, James Island still got an impressive performance from Andrea Duncan, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and two steals. That was a full 51.2% of James Island's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Shante Deas was another key contributor, scoring four points along with ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, James Island smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bluffton only pulled down nine offensive rebounds.
Bluffton had a senior duo take command as Tacoya Heyward dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds and Ja'laina Mosley scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. Heyward is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least four every time she's taken the court this season.
James Island's defeat dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Bluffton, the victory was the 17th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-1.
James Island will be playing at home against Hilton Head Island at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Bluffton, they will head out on the road to square off against May River at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing isn't great for May River: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home, while Bluffton has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.
