Callaway has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Columbus Falcons at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Callaway focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Tuesday.
Even though Warren Central scored an imposing 68 points, Callaway still came out on top. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Callaway made off with a 69-68 win over Warren Central.
Callaway can attribute much of their success to Braxton Ward, who scored 25 points along with two steals, and Javarian Mallard, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Ward's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Derek Byrd, who scored four points along with 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Columbus faced Vicksburg in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The contest between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Columbus falling 61-47. They have been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
The victory got Callaway back to even at 13-13. As for Columbus, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-6.
