The Boerne Greyhounds entered their tilt with the Somerset Bulldogs with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Boerne was the clear victor by a 31-7 margin over Somerset. Considering Boerne has won seven matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Thomas (t.j.) Dement had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 213 yards and a touchdown while picking up 10.1 yards per carry. Dement's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. Another player making a difference was Hutson Hendrix, who rushed for 19 yards and three touchdowns.
Boerne's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. Somerset's QB won't forget Braden Bays anytime soon given Bays sacked him four times.
Boerne's victory was their 12th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 8-1. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.08 points. As for Somerset, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 5-4.
Boerne will head out on the road to face off against Fredericksburg at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fredericksburg will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 761st, while Boerne is ranked 219th). As for Somerset, they will be playing at home against Uvalde at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Uvalde will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
