The Hoxie Indians won the last time they faced the Smith Center Redmen, and things went their way on Saturday too. Hoxie walked away with a 55-47 win over Smith Center.
Daveyon Orr and Tegan McKenzie certainly did their best on Saturday to try and avoid the loss. Orr scored 11 points along with five rebounds, while McKenzie scored eight points along with 13 rebounds and three blocks. McKenzie hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for four straight games. Wyatt Overmiller was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Hoxie's win bumped their record up to 4-6. As for Smith Center, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season.
Hoxie will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Russell at 7:30 p.m. Russell is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Smith Center, they will head out on the road to challenge Hill City at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hill City presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Smith Center in Kansas (Hill City is ranked 114th, while Smith Center is ranked 300th).
