Meanwhile, Lawson made easy work of Hume-Fogg on Wednesday and carried off an 18-1 victory. Considering the Lightning have won six matches by more than 16 runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Bailey Clem made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off three triples, three runs, and three RBI while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Lawson let Joi Stewart and Isabella Batts run wild. Stewart scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Batts went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Makenzie Cotton was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
The win made it two in a row for Lawson and bumps their season record up to 6-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 2 run in those games. As for Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-6.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Martin Luther King Jr. Magnet hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .405. However, it's not like Lawson struggles in that department as they've averaged .452. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
