This season hasn't been kind to the Star Valley Braves, who are still winless after their fifth contest. They fell to Pinedale 50-46. Star Valley was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pinedale apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2020.
Several Braves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kenlee Engelhardt, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Engelhardt also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Another player making a difference was Sheridan Coles, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Star Valley were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Pinedale's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Erica Wilson led the charge by scoring 13 points along with five steals. Those five steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Elyn Bowers, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds.
Star Valley's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Pinedale, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
Star Valley won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Skyline at 9:40 a.m. on December 15th. Skyline knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Star Valley likes a good challenge. Pinedale won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Evanston at 9:40 a.m. on December 15th. Evanston comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
