The Battle Ground Tigers fought the good fight in their overtime game against the La Center Wildcats on Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 37-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wildcats. Battle Ground just can't catch a break and has now endured four defeats in a row.
Battle Ground's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Valentine Micheneau, who scored nine points along with three steals, and Marissa Loveall who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Loveall has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Robertson, who scored no points along with 11 rebounds and six steals.
Battle Ground's defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-10. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 19.3 points per game. As for La Center, their victory bumped their record up to 1-6.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Battle Ground will take on Mountain View at 5:15 p.m. on Monday. Mountain View presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Battle Ground in Washington (Mountain View is ranked 61st, while Battle Ground is ranked 250th). As for La Center, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Castle Rock at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Castle Rock focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Friday.
