Moscow is 2-8 against Post Falls since April of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Bears will head out on the road to face off against the Trojans at 3:00 p.m. Moscow has given up an average of 14.1 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Moscow managed to slip by Sandpoint the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bears lost 13-4 to the Bulldogs on Tuesday.
Alazne Espy and Madilyn Hennrich did some serious damage despite the final result: Espy went 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs, while Hennrich went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That home run marked the first that Espy has launched this season.
Meanwhile, Post Falls came up short against Lake City on Tuesday, falling 18-8. The Trojans have struggled against the Timberwolves recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.
Kulani Peahu-Michael and Natalie Stroud stepped up to the plate in a big way. Peahu-Michael went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs and two RBI, while Stroud went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was McKenna Zimmerman, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Post Falls' defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Moscow, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Moscow hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .312. However, it's not like Post Falls struggles in that department as they've averaged .314. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
