It was a good run, but Walkertown unfortunately witnessed the end of their eight-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of the Morehead Panthers by a score of 7-6. The Wolfpack were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Panthers earlier this season, when they won 6-1.
Walkertown saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cam Smith, who scored two runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Smith has posted since back in February. Westin Tompkins was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Walkertown's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 9-2. As for Morehead, the win snapped their losing streak at five games and leaves them with a 3-6 record.
