Basketball Recap: Cascade Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Victory

Cascade came tearing into Tuesday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 14.8 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 59-41 win over the North Putnam Cougars. For the Cadets, this counts as revenge for the 48-45 victory the Cougars walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2019.

Cascade's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Macey Pugh led the charge by dropping a double-double on 20 points and 13 boards. Pugh has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times she's played. Lilly Hall was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Cascade smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in three consecutive matches.

Despite the loss, North Putnam still got an impressive performance from Jenna Day, who posted nine points.

Cascade pushed their record up to 12-10 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.3 points per game. As for North Putnam, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season.

Cascade will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Northview at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Northview will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something Cascade surely won't give up without a fight. As for North Putnam, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-44 loss against Southmont on the 4th.
