Baseball Recap: May River Has No Trouble Against Bishop England

May River made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Bishop England, but they still couldn't quite topple them. May River blew past Bishop England 11-2 on Wednesday. That looming 11-2 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Sharks yet this season.

Max Van Esselstyn made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Fergus Varley was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Dylan Mischik was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.

May River was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

May River now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Bishop England, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 7-5 record.

May River will have a chance to go back-to-back against Bishop England: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
