Needles put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by the Laughlin Cougars to the tune of 78-35. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 contests by 22 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Luke Mills, who went 6 of 10 en route to 16 points along with six assists and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Goulet, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 12 points in addition to five assists and four steals.
Despite the defeat, Laughlin saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Aidan Trinidad-Rodriguez posted 14 points. Another player making a difference was DaVinci Faccioli, who had seven points.
Needles pushed their record up to 16-0 with the victory, which was their sixth straight on the road. As for Laughlin, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Needles will head out to square off against Lake Mead Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Needles knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 16 matches -- so hopefully Lake Mead Christian Academy likes a good challenge. As for Laughlin, they will venture away from home to face off against GV Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
