Laurel was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight  defeat  dating back to last season. They took  a  31-18 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hattiesburg Tigers. The Golden Tornadoes lost against the Tigers in their previous head to head  back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the  46-7 score last time.
 Hattiesburg was led to victory by  Davion Young and  Bryson Barnes.  Young gained 159 total yards and two touchdowns, while  Barnes rushed for 167 yards and one  touchdown while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Young showed off some serious burst, cutting through the defense on one rush that went for 58 yards.
Laurel's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Hattiesburg,  the  victory  got them back to even at 1-1.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Laurel will face off against Gulfport at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. As for Hattiesburg, they will challenge Oak Grove at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday.
