The Bell Blue Raiders managed to keep up with the Morrilton Devil Dogs until halftime on Wednesday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Bell suffered a rough 80-58 loss at the hands of Morrilton. While losing is never fun, Bell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 749th in Texas, while Morrilton is ranked 14th in Arkansas).
Nathan Turi and Keyaun Williams certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Turi scored 12 points along with nine rebounds, while Williams scored 18 points along with three steals. Elijah E thompson was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Bell has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Morrilton, the win was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.
Bell will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Hillcrest at 12:00 p.m. on December 28th. Hillcrest knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matchups -- so hopefully Bell likes a good challenge. Morrilton won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Bentonville West at 5:00 p.m. on December 28th.
