Headland has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against The Charles Henderson Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Headland humbled Carroll with a 52-22 victory.
Headland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jaxon Williams, who rushed for 103 yards and two touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also threw for 52 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. MARCUS REEVES also helped out as he racked up 165 rushing yards.
Meanwhile, even though Eufaula scored an imposing 31 points on Friday, Charles Henderson still came out on top. Charles Henderson blew past Eufaula 51-31.
Charles Henderson's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jywon Boyd, who rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and also picked up 61 receiving yards. Zach Coleman also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Headland's victory was their seventh straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 6-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-10 New Brockton and 1-7 Abbeville (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 28.2% over those games). Charles Henderson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.
Headland ended up a good deal behind Charles Henderson in their previous meeting back in October of 2022, losing 31-13. Can Headland avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
