North extended their losing streak to five on Monday, dropping them down to 1-11. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 9-7 heartbreaker at the hands of the Assabet Valley RVT Aztecs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Aztecs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 23-1 back in April.
Michael Graves was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Jasiel Benitez also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.
As for Assabet Valley RVT, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 4-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted against North since April 19, 2017.
On Assabet Valley RVT's side, Joshua Leclair made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Leclair is becoming a predictor of Assabet Valley RVT's success: when he allows at most two earned runs the team is 2-1 (and 2-5 when he doesn't). Leclair was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Rylan Colacchio, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Jonathan Campbell was another key player, earning one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North will take on Prouty at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Assabet Valley RVT, they will challenge Blackstone-Millville at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
