The Estero Wildcats's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 74-40 loss at the hands of Lely. Estero was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-23.
Estero's loss came despite strong showings from Amiya Lewis and Jaydn Hayes. Lewis scored 18 points along with nine rebounds, while Hayes scored 17 points along with two steals. That was a full 45% of Estero's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Vaill, who scored five points along with six rebounds.
Estero's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Lely, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 13-8.
Estero will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Ida Baker at 6:30 p.m. As for Lely, Lely and Fort Myers will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The timing isn't great for Fort Myers: they have been struggling with five straight losses at home, while Lely has snatched up six consecutive wins on the road.
