Grace relied on the efforts of Landon Cooper, who gained 269 total yards and three touchdowns, and RIley Williams, who threw for 332 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75.9% of his passes. Williams' passing game has become a key predictor of the Lancers' success: the team is 4-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise. Jake Williams made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Grace didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Nordhoff to a completion percentage of just 40%. The Lancers are a perfect 4-0 when they limit the passing game like that.
Grace didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Dominic Sforza and Williams. Williams' rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his third straight game with at least 103 rushing yards. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Channel Islands). They breezed past Santa Clara to the tune of 42-7 on Friday.
Channel Islands' win came from a few key players Grace will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Julian Gomez, who rushed for 64 yards and a pair of TDs. Those 64 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Christian Silva was another key player, throwing for 97 yards and two touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.
Grace's record is now 5-3. As for Channel Islands, their record now sits at 2-6.
Friday's matchup might be decided in the trenches. Grace has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 169.6 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Channel Islands, though, as they've been averaging an even more impressive 95.8 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Everything came up roses for Grace against Channel Islands in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 59-7 win. In that game, the Lancers amassed a halftime lead of 34-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
