Volleyball Recap: Mountain View Wins Going Away Against Columbia

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Skyview, Mountain View was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Columbia Wildcats with a sharp 3-0 victory. That three set margin sets a new team best for the Mavericks this season.

Mountain View never let Columbia on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 25-23, 25-12.

Racquel Gauna paced Mountain View's offense, picking up 12 kills. Gauna got some help from Alyssa Nelson and her 17 assists. Gauna was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

The win snapped Mountain View's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 5-4-2 record. As for Columbia, their loss dropped their record down to 5-5.

Coincidentally, Mountain View and Columbia will both be playing Melba the next time they take the court. The Mavericks will head out to face the Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Wildcats will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
