Montgomery County has gone a perfect 3-0 against Fleming County recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Monday.
Montgomery County lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Blazer, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's game. The Indians never let the Tomcats get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory on Saturday. The Indians not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since March 22nd (when they won 16-4).
Montgomery County got a great performance from Jordan Howard as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Howard has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayse Mays, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Owen Burton, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Fleming County waltzed into their matchup on Saturday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They beat the Raiders by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 16-3. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Preston Cropper made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Cropper was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Fleming County got a massive performance out of Parker Sills, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Sills is becoming a predictor of the Panthers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 7-8 when he doesn't). Dylan Doyle was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run and six RBI.
Fleming County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Fleming County's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-8. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.5 runs over those games. As for Montgomery County, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 11-8.
Montgomery County skirted past Fleming County 5-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2019. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Panthers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
