Football Recap: Piedmont Piles Up the Points Against East Rowan

The Piedmont Panthers humbled the East Rowan Mustangs with a 47-7 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Panthers.

Piedmont's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kaleb Poole, who picked up 107 receiving yards and one TD, and also rushed for 71 yards and one touchdown on only five carries. Another signal caller making a difference was Jack Blakeslee, who threw for 168 yards and a pair of TDs on only 12 passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Piedmont was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 214 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Piedmont didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of RJ Sherrod and James (JC) Helms. Piedmont received some extra help from Sherrod, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.

Piedmont now has a winning record of 2-1. As for East Rowan, their loss was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.

Coming up, Piedmont will face off against Montgomery Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for East Rowan, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Jay M. Robinson at 7:00 p.m. on the 19th. The contest will give the Mustangs their first taste of in-conference action this season.
